Q: What is recovery like after rhinoplasty?
A: Even though many patients worry that recovery after a nose job will be difficult, most are pleasantly surprised that they experience little discomfort and are able to return to work or school within 7 to 10 days. Dr. Hill typically doesn’t use nasal packing, which is typically the most uncomfortable part of recovery. It’s important to follow Dr. Hill’s instructions to help you heal quickly without complications.
Q: Is there a minimum age to get rhinoplasty?
A: Age is not as important as waiting until the growth of your nose and other facial features is complete. That typically occurs at about age 16 for girls and 17 or 18 for boys. Patients younger than 18 need the consent of a parent or guardian.
Q: Am I too old for rhinoplasty?
A: There’s a misconception that women and men don’t get rhinoplasty after age 35 or 40. It’s true that most rhinoplasty patients are in their 20s, but you can undergo cosmetic nose surgery at virtually any age. The skin on men’s noses tend to thicken with age, which can make rhinoplasty more difficult.
